Make Your Own New Years Eve Hair Clips

I hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday season and enjoying quality time with your family and friends! The snowy weather has certainly been affecting a lot of things this year, but I’m feeling very grateful that we ended up doing a road trip for our holiday traveling so we have avoided all the airlines’ drama.

The week between Christmas and New Years is always a magical time of staying in your PJs all day, playing board games and watching movies with the fam, and eating an unreasonable amount of leftover Christmas cookies and sweet treats. Best. Week. Ever. It can also be a fun time to work on any creative activities you have been putting off. So if you find yourself snowed in this week or are simply looking for a good activity to do from home, I have a super simple project for you today to make your very own starry hair clips, perfect for any upcoming New Years Eve plans you may have! Check out the easy tutorial below.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN NEW YEARS EVE HAIR CLIPS

You will need:

This project is so simple that it really doesn’t even require an official “tutorial”. Using your hot glue gun, simply glue on a group of wooden star cutouts in various sizes along the top of your metal alligator clips.

You can either arrange them in a single layer or pile them up for a more 3D look.

After the glue dries, you may want to use a pair of tweezers to carefully pull off any extra visible hot glue strings before you begin painting.

Once you have all your stars glued in place, take a small paint brush and carefully cover all wood surfaces with a few coats of gold metallic paint for a sparkly NYE look! I ended up doing about 3-4 coats for a more opaque look. And that’s all there is to it!

These starry hair clips will be the star of the show at your New Years Eve party this year! Or can even be worn while just hanging out at home and watching the ball drop, which is definitely on my itinerary this year :P

This is our last Entertain the Idea post of the year, so thank you all so much for following along with all our projects and ideas this year! I hope you have been inspired to get creative or found some new ways to celebrate each and every day.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
