DIY Halloween Candy-Coated Apple Slices

Halloween is one of those socially acceptable times of year to eat way too much candy... so without further ado, more sugary sweets! (Does the apple part make it healthy?)

Supplies: Honeycrisp apples, caramel, lollipop sticks, candy melts, & toppings

Step 1: To prepare for the candy-coating, you will want to get your toppings ready. Finely chop up things like peanuts, pretzels, Oreos etc. Some toppings can be crushed up by placing in a bag and rolling over the ingredients with a rolling pin or meat mallet.

Step 2: Cut your apples into bite size slices.

Step 3: Poke your lollipop sticks through the end of your apple slices.

Step 4: Line a baking sheet with wax paper.

Step 5: Follow the steps on your candy melt and caramel packages. Melt the candy and dip your apple slices into the melted candy or melted caramel. Place to cool on the baking sheet.

Step 6: Toppings time! Using halloween sprinkles, crushed Oreos, crushed pretzels, and peanuts, decorate the melted chocolate or caramel apples. Another decorative option is to take a different colored candy melt and melt it into a piping bag. Drizzle the candy over the decorated apple. *Remember to sprinkle on your toppings before the candy cools and hardens!*

Happy Halloween! What costume will you be wearing this year?
