3 Gin Cocktails Inspired by Breakfast

Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day. I think I could probably eat breakfast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in the same day. And who doesn’t love a unique cocktail? So I teamed up with my friend Michael, who helped me create these three fun cocktail ideas inspired by breakfast! We are both on a big gin kick lately, so all three recipes include this botanical spirit. Enjoy!

LAVENDER GIN FIZZ

Nothing says breakfast quite like cracking open an egg, so you know we had to include a frothy gin fizz to the list made with none other than an egg white! This cocktail is a fun, refreshing combination of flavors with citrus and lavender.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz gin

  • 0.75 oz lemon juice or grapefruit juice

  • 0.5 oz lavender simple syrup

  • Egg white

  • Club soda

How to Make:

Combine the gin, lemon juice/grapefruit juice, lavender simple syrup, and about half of one egg white into a shaker and shake without ice. Then add ice and shake again. Strain mixture into a glass. Wait until the top layer of foam appears and gently add club soda to fill the rest of the glass.

Garnish with a mint leaf (optional) and serve in a hi ball glass!

COLD BREW GIN & TONIC

The next cocktail is a spin on everybody’s favorite breakfast beverage, coffee! The warm weather is almost here and it is about to be cold brew season, so try out this unique cocktail for any coffee lover.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz gin

  • 1.75 oz cold brew coffee

  • 0.5 oz honey syrup

  • Tonic water

How to Make:

Simply pour your gin, cold brew coffee, and honey syrup into a glass over ice. Top with a splash of tonic water. Serve in an old fashioned glass!

MARMALADE MARTINI

Lastly, and probably my personal favorite, we have a sweet gin cocktail made with marmalade! Marmalade is a classic breakfast item, served on toast or with scones. But you can also mash it up in a shaker for a delicious drink. We mixed ours with fresh muddled strawberries for an extra fruity combination.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz gin

  • 0.5 oz orange marmalade

  • 0.5 oz triple sec

  • 0.5 oz lemon juice

  • 2 strawberries

How to Make:

Mash the marmalade and strawberries in a shaker with your lemon juice. Add gin, triple sec, and ice and give the mixture a shake. Double strain into a glass.

Garnish with a strawberry on the rim and serve in a martini glass!

These cocktails would be super fun to serve at a boozy brunch with friends! If you try out any of these unique drinks, let us know what you think! What are some of your favorite breakfast foods?
