2022 Desk Calendar DIY & Printables

January can sometimes feel like the ultimate Monday of the year, you’re back to work or school after a relaxing holiday break, it’s usually cold and snowy (depending on where you live), and there’s not a whole lot to look forward to. But it can also be thought of as a fresh start, a great time to get reorganized, and a time to plan out your goals & intentions for the year. To try to channel the second outlook, I thought it would be fun to start off the year with a super easy project that is cute and functional!

This monthly desk calendar adds some creative flair to your work station and the reverse side can be used as a dry-erase memo board for your to do list or quick notes. It’s almost to simple to warrant DIY instructions, but here’s how I made mine below. Enjoy!

You will need:

  • Scrapbook paper with various patterns

  • 5’ x 7’ Acrylic Photo Frame — I had a pack of these leftover from our wedding table numbers, but any style of acrylic frame will work as long as you can see through the back and front of your frame

  • White cardstock paper

  • Cutting mat

  • X-acto knife & metal ruler

  • Double sided tape

  • Printer

STEP 1: To begin, you will need to print the 2022 Monthly Calendar PDF (below) on white cardstock paper.

STEP 2: Using your X-acto knife and cutting board, cut each individual monthly square out of the cardstock.

STEP 3: Cut your scrapbook paper into 4” x 6” sized rectangles. You are going to need two pieces with the same design for each month, to be used for the front and the back. So in total there will be 24 rectangles of scrapbook paper.

STEP 4: You will also need to cut out 12 rectangles of blank white cardstock that is 3” x 5” in size.

STEP 5: To begin assembling each monthly page, you will need two pieces of 4” x 6” scrapbook paper, one piece of 3” x 5” white cardstock, and one month of the calendar. Using the double sided tape, tape together the two pieces of scrapbook paper back to back.

STEP 6: It’s okay if the two pieces do not line up exactly (like in my example photo above). Just go back with your X-acto knife and clean up the edges so none of the white backing is visible from either side.

STEP 7: Again using your double sided tape, tape on the calendar to the front of the scrapbook paper wherever you would like it and tape on the 3” x 5” white cardstock to the middle of the back of your scrapbook paper. So the calendar will be on one side and on the reverse side is the blank white paper.

STEP 8: Now repeat this with all twelve months of your calendar! You will be left with something like the image above! Now all that is left is to open up your acrylic frame and center the January page between the two pieces of acrylic. Close it up with the magnets, and your desk calendar/memo board is complete and ready to be swapped out each month!

The craft store has so many different styles of scrapbook paper, you could even use wrapping paper, cut something out of a magazine, or use family photos as the calendar background. It is completely customizable to match your style! I think this would make a really cute inexpensive DIY gift as well for the new year, especially for someone working from home and looking to decorate their at home workspace.
