DIY Pennant Flag Drink Stirrers

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a wonderful week. Today we are sharing another DIY idea from our Summer Camp Baby Shower! I’m sure you know by now that we are very passionate about DIY decor over here at Entertain the Idea, so you won’t be surprised to know that we have another DIY project to share from this event — if you missed it we shared a few other DIY summer camp baby shower projects on this post.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN DIY FELT PENNANT FLAG DRINK STIRRERS

One of my favorite projects that I made for the party were these felt pennant flag drink stirrers. I think they made such an adorable touch to our camp themed tablescape. And they also served an important purpose for a door prize game. While the guests were eating at the party, we rolled some dice and all guests with the matching number on their drink stirrer flag won a “dining hall merit badge.”

If you would like to make your own felt pennant flag stirrers, here’s what you will need:

  • Assorted colors of felt (I love the color options from this Etsy shop)

  • Bamboo skewers

  • X-acto knife

  • Cutting mat

  • Scissors

  • Ruler

  • Hot glue

  • Craft glue

  • Pen

  • Entertain the Idea’s Pennant Flag Drink Stirrer Printable

  • Cardstock

STEP 1: Download the ETI Pennant Flag Drink Stirrer Printable above. Print out the PDF on a thick cardstock.

STEP 2: Using your X-acto knife, cutting mat, ruler, and/or scissors, cut out the stencils for the triangle flag shape, the flag tails, and the numbers 1-6.

STEP 3: Lay the cardstock stencils on your felt. Trace the shapes onto your felt using a pen or thin sharpie.

STEP 4: Use your X-acto knife or scissors again to carefully cut out each shape from your felt. You will need one triangle shape, one flag tail shape, and one number shape for each drink stirrer. Preferably each of these shapes would be in a different color. I did a bunch of each color at a time and then mismatched the combinations.

STEP 5: Use craft glue to glue your flag tail shape and your number shape to the front of the flag triangle shape. Allow glue to dry.

STEP 6: Using sharp scissors (or pliers) cut down your bamboo skewers to your desired size. This should be just long enough for the flag to stick out the top of whatever size glass you are serving.

STEP 7: Hot glue the cut off end of your bamboo skewers to the back edge of your felt flag. Allow glue to set.

And that’s all there is to it! Now stick your drink stirrers in each glass or leave a jar of them at your bar setup for guests to take with their drinks.

If you take the time to hand cut all these tiny numbers from felt like I did, just know that you are my people!! You know what they say, with great patience comes adorable party decor :P

I love how these drink stirrers turned out, they were the perfect addition to our Summer Camp themed baby shower party. I think they would also work for other party themes as well, maybe a race car theme? A sports theme? A graduation party? However you use them, I hope this idea inspires you to create your own party decor for your next gathering!
